Como e quando usar o was, were e did
Was e were correspondem ao tempo passado do verbo “to be”. Já o did é um verbo auxiliar do passado simples, utilizado para frases negativas e interrogativas (exceto com o verbo “to be”).
Was, were e os pronomes:
- I was
- You were
- He was
- She was
- It was
- We were
- You were
- They were
Exemplos:
Afirmativa:
They were at school.
(Eles estavam na escola)
I was late.
(Eu estava atrasado)
Negativa:
They were not at school.
(Eles não estavam na escola)
I was not late.
(Eu não estava atrasado)
Interrogativa:
Were they at school?
(Eles estavam na escola)
Were you late?
(Você estava atrasado?)
Usando o Did:
I studied a lot last night.
(Eu estudei muito ontem a noite.)
You did your homework yesterday.
(Você fez sua tarefa de casa ontem.)
Did negativa:
I didn’t (did+not) study a lot last night.
(Eu não estudei muito ontem a noite.)
You didn’t do your homework yesterday.
(Você não fez sua tarefa de casa ontem.)
Did Interrogativa:
Did you study a lot last night?
(Você estudou muito ontem a noite?)
Did you do your homework yesterday?
(Você fez sua tarefa de casa ontem?)
